The University of Oregon Museum of Art is the single largest repository of art works and related archival materials on David McCosh. This important collection contains almost two thousand paintings, watercolors, drawings, and sketches that are presently available for research. Additional archival materials include the artist’s correspondence and other papers, a series of sketchbooks dated between 1927 and 1979, and slides taken by the artist during travel overseas, as well as to Mexico and other locations in the Northwest. Materials also include a collection of audiotape oral histories conducted with friends and former students of the artist. There is one audiotape interview with the artist conducted in 1977. A database compiled of information on all paintings, drawings, and sketches is available to assist in research efforts. The collection was made possible through a donation by the artist’s wife, Anne Kutka McCosh, in 1988 to the University of Oregon Museum of Art and the University of Oregon Foundation.
