Soreng Gallery
Highlights:
Previously known as the “throne room,” the newly renovated Soreng Gallery for Chinese art will include a modern interpretation of a traditional Chinese treasure wall featuring a diverse array of decorative objects in jade, glass, bronze and ceramic. Other displays will include clothing, architecture, and ritual and decorative objects.
Preble/Murphy Wing
Highlights:
The inaugural installations will feature “everyday objects” including a number of country textiles (such as a fireman’s suit and a fishmonger’s jacket), a selection of wrapping cloths, ceramics, netsuke (clothing toggles) and lacquerware (letter boxes, combs and more). There will also be special sections devoted to the tea ceremony and the depiction of daily pleasures in woodblock prints.

Visitors of all ages are invited to participate in Chinese and Japanese art-inspired family fun. Free general admission to the entire museum.
