University of Oregon museums open Thanksgiving weekend

EUGENE, Ore.—(Nov. 11, 2005)—The University of Oregon’s (UO) Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art and Museum of Natural and Cultural History will both be open to the public on Saturday, Nov. 26 and Sunday, Nov. 27, following Thanksgiving.

After closing on Thanksgiving Day and Friday, Nov. 25, both museums will be open for their standard operating hours to accommodate visitors seeking a holiday weekend activity.

“The museums provide a perfect destination for friends and family on this holiday weekend,” said Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art director David Turner. “Both museums have a range of interesting exhibitions on view, visitors can enjoy a warm drink and meal at the Marché Museum Café, and the museum stores are open for holiday shopping.”

Museum of Natural and Cultural History program coordinator Judi Pruitt goes on to say, “With just one stop, visitors can enjoy two wonderful museums.”

Both museums will also be open during much of the UO’s winter break. The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art will be closed on Friday, Dec. 23 through Sunday, Dec. 25 and Sunday, Jan. 1. The Museum of Natural and Cultural History will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 through Sunday, Dec. 25, as well as Friday, Dec. 30 through Sunday, Jan. 1. 

The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art’s Marché Museum Café, as well as both museum stores, will be operating at their regular schedule every day that the museums are open.

Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays. For more information, call (541) 346-3027.
