UO's Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art offers spring break art camp

TITLE: Around the World Spring Break Art Camp

DATE: Monday, March 21, through Friday, March 25

TIME: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily

PLACE: Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, 1430 Johnson Lane, at the University of Oregon

DETAILS:

Children ages 5 to 15 years can now register for a weeklong spring break art camp offered March 21–25 at the University of Oregon's Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, 1430 Johnson Lane. Around the World Spring Break Art Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day and provides kids with an opportunity to participate in a wide range of art and writing activities.

“The students will engage in activities that take them to the museum's galleries where they will gain inspiration for the days' activities including Chinese brush painting, watercolors, Andy Warhol-inspired art, ceramics and treasure hunts investigating art from Korea,” explains Lisa Abia-Smith, museum director of education.

The $130 class fee includes supplies and both a midmorning and an afternoon snack. A limited number of scholarships and partial scholarships are available. The deadline for registration is Monday, March 14, and the class is limited to 12 participants.

The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art reopened in January 2005 after a major renovation and expansion project, which nearly doubled the size of the building. The art-making studio is just one of the museum's new spaces and provides an ideal setting for the museum's art-making classes for children and adults, and for post-tour activities.
