Project - Movement and Art
Scholars - Becky LeDuc
School - Latham Elementary, Cottage Grove
Student Ages - 3rd and 4th grades
Activities - Activities included an introduction to abstract art and specific artists' techniques; color theory and art literature; cubism with expression through movement; action painting with Jackson Pollock; Matisse, pattern, and collage; culminating event: art gallery showing and dance performance at school.
Notes - Comments from the teacher: the plans were well thought out, organized, and executed perfectly. The content was deep, thought provoking and engaging. It was wonderful!

Project - Bringing Fairy Tales to Life
Scholar - Marco Davis
School - O'Hara Catholic School, Eugene
Student Ages - 2nd grade
Activities - Interpreted fairy tales and turned them into plays. Practiced performance and movement techniques using animal movement, expression without words, dance. Explored theatrical vocabulary such as blocking, pacing, and stage left and right. For culminating event, the students performed their tale at the school talent show.
Notes - Comments from the teacher: Excellent, the students loved him.

Project - Living Saints
Scholar - Liz Parr
School - O'Hara Catholic School, Eugene
Student Ages - 6th grade
Activities - Every year this class presents a living saints project; this year the teacher asked for assistance from ArtsBridge to address fine arts and elements and benchmarks in Language Arts, Social Studies, and Religion as this school defines them. Activities included map studies and ways of viewing the world; cultural symbols; artistic expression, color theory, and anatomy; and location or setting in a theatrical backdrop.
Notes - Comments from the scholar: I was very pleased with the enthusiasm and the amount of effort put into (this project) by the students. It really showed in the quality of the work.
