PHOTOGRAPHY AT OREGON LAUNCHES FIRST-EVER ONLINE EXHIBIT
The Photography at Oregon
Committee, in collaboration with the University of Oregon Museum of Art (UOMA),
has launched its first-ever virtual exhibition at www.photographyatoregon.org.
Among the works
by 45 photographers in the 2002 show is a digital color print of the late
author Ken Kesey and his bus "Further" by Brian Lanker; a cibachrome
print, "Apple Tree and Raindrops, Oregon 1993," by Christopher Burkett;
and a color inkjet image, "Summer Window," by Sue Thorson.
Opening the 26th
annual exhibit to photography enthusiasts from around the world, the web site
greatly increases exposure for participating artists because the show is no
longer limited to local and regional viewers.
"The online
exhibition enables us to show the photographs for a much longer time and to
a much larger audience," explains Christie McDonald, UOMA director of
external affairs. "We hope the increased exposure will intensify buyers'
and collectors' interest in the works, as well as attract additional artists
to participate in future exhibitions."
Since 1966, the
Photography at Oregon Committee has joined with the UO Museum of Art to promote
photography and bring historical and contemporary exhibitions to the university.
Each year, artists lend their support by donating photographic prints that
are sold at an annual auction to support photography exhibitions and programs
at the Museum of Art. The auction is being planned for early next year.
