Art Museum Exhibit Features Auction Photographs

EVENT:
More than 50 photographers have donated prints, ranging from figure studies to
landscapes, for the 26th Photography at Oregon Exhibition at the Adell McMillan
Art Gallery in the University of Oregon Erb Memorial Union.

DATE:
Friday, Sept. 26, through Wednesday, Oct. 29

TIME:
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 26-28
7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 29-Oct. 29

LOCATION:
Adell McMillan Art Gallery, Erb Memorial Union, 1222 E. 13th Ave., on the UO campus

BACKGROUND:
An exhibition of soon-to-be auctioned prints from more than 50 prominent photographers will open Sept. 26 at the Adell McMillan Art Gallery in the Erb Memorial Union. On display at the gallery through Oct. 29, the photographs will be auctioned Sunday, Nov. 16. The proceeds will support photography exhibitions and programs at the UO Museum of Art. The auction opens at noon and bidding begins at 1 p.m. in the Alumni Lounge of Gerlinger Hall, 1468 University St.

Contributing photographers include Brian Lanker and Dan Powell of Eugene; Stu Levy of Portland; Christopher Burkett of Milwaukie; and Martha Casanave of Monterey, Calif.

UO Museum of Art Director David Turner explains, "The Photography at Oregon Auction is a great opportunity for collectors eager to learn more about the history of the medium, as well as a rare chance to acquire art at a very reasonable price."
